Description
Designed by Vittorio Gennari for Bosa, the Dab penguin was created in support of WWF to share Bosa’s commitment to the protection of the environment and species at risk. Depicted in a dab, which refers to a pose struck by athletes and performers as a celebratory stance recognizing a great act, the Dab Penguin is a symbol of the world’s penguins, 60% of which have disappeared over the last 50 years. Crafted in an attempt to raise awareness of endangered species, the Dab Penguin was designed using a low-poly technique, named for an early method of 3D animation which was used to create computer renderings during the animation process. Here, the low-poly style provides a geometric appearance, defined using a few lines, giving the effect as if the penguin were disappearing, thus alluding to a presence that is being slowly reduced.
About the Brand
Bosa was started by Italo Bosa In 1976. He began his ceramic production, applying the ancient techniques for making objects entirely by hand, enhanced by a rich palette of colors, decorated with precious metals and enameled in the exclusive shades of color created by the company. Bosa objects and accessories transform formal and functional conventions into new interpretations, new functions and fantastic worlds.
